What is a signet in Fourth Wing?
In Rebecca Yarros’s Empyrean series, a signet is the unique power a rider gains after bonding with a dragon. The dragon channels its magic to its rider, and that power takes a shape that reflects who the rider is. Some riders become wielders of an element; others gain abilities of the mind.
No two riders manifest in quite the same way, and some signets are rare enough to be dangerous. This quiz groups the possibilities into ten archetypes and matches your answers to the one that fits you best.
The 10 signet types in this quiz
Each result is an archetype inspired by the kinds of powers in the books. The descriptions are our own take — fan interpretation, not canon.
Lightning Wielder
Calls lightning down from the sky. One of the most destructive signets a rider can carry and one of the hardest to control, it takes enormous physical and mental stamina.
Shadow Wielder
Bends darkness into shields, bindings, and cover. A versatile signet that rewards strategy, often found in riders who put protecting others first.
Ice Wielder
Pulls cold from the air to freeze water, ground, or an opponent’s footing. Precise and defensive, it suits riders who stay composed when everyone else panics.
Mender
Repairs what is broken: stone, steel, and in rare cases flesh and bone. Menders are scarce, and a skilled one is worth a whole squad on the battlefield.
Farsight
Sees across great distances, spotting movement long before it arrives. A lookout’s signet, invaluable for scouting and early warning.
Memory Reader
Sees a person’s memories through touch. A truth-finding signet that makes its rider both very useful and a little unsettling to be around.
Inntinnsic (Mind Reader)
Reads minds. So rare and so feared that a rider who carries it has every reason to keep it secret.
Battle Foresight
Glimpses how a coming battle will unfold. A strategist’s signet that can shape the decisions of an entire army.
Astral Projection
Sends the rider’s consciousness beyond their body to scout or appear somewhere else. Ideal for reconnaissance, and for riders who hate being confined.
Telekinesis
Moves objects with the mind, from a single dagger to a falling beam. Simple to describe and endlessly practical in a fight.

Signet quiz FAQ
What signet would I have in Fourth Wing?
Take the quiz above. Your answers about fear, pressure, and loyalty are matched against ten signet archetypes, and your closest match is shown instantly along with your runner-up signets.
Is this an official Fourth Wing quiz?
No. This is an unofficial, fan-made quiz. It is not affiliated with or endorsed by Rebecca Yarros, Entangled Publishing, Red Tower Books, or any official Empyrean site.
Are these signets from the books?
The ten types are inspired by the kinds of powers riders manifest in the series, but the descriptions and personality matches are our own interpretation. Treat your result as fan fun, not canon.
How does the quiz decide my signet?
Every option adds points to one or two signet types. When you finish, the type with the most points wins; ties go to the type your later answers favored. The percentages show how your points were split.
Will I get the same result if I retake it?
Only if you answer the same way. There is no randomness: identical answers always give the same signet, so a different result means your answers changed.
Do you store my answers?
No. Your answers are scored in your browser and never sent to us. We use Google Analytics to count visits and completed quizzes, including which result was shown, but no account or name is involved.
